| Classical Ilizarov Hip Reconstruction procedure was done which consists of a high
subtrochaneric valgus osteotomy giving 80 to 90 degrees of valgus at the subtrochanteric
area. This gives pelvic support and improves hip mechanics. Distally a corticotomy was
done in the femur which permits lengthening as well as correction of the proximal valgus
to balance the mechanical axis.

| Result shows that the lurch in the hip has decreased by almost 70%and the leg lengths are almost equal. The patient has subsequently gotten married and is having 75% pain relief.Under these circumstances, a total hip replacement was neither feasible nor affordable. This procedure has given a fresh lease of life for 10-15 years. | |
