Rotational
Deformity Correction with Lengthening |

This 10 year old child had suffered from childhood osteomyelitis. This resulted in a gap NonUnion of the Tibia . This had caused a severe rotational deformity of fibula with the foot having turned around by more than 180 degrees. There was a shortening of the leg as well by almost 12 cms.

The Ilizarov apparatus was applied with lengthening of the tibia at the lower level and derotation at the upper and the lower levels. The fibula was also lengthened and derotated at two levels.

In the treatment lasting only 7 months, the leg has been completely straightened and lengthened and it now looks like a human limb after all!
